The Balochistan Assessment and Examination Commission Act, 2018 provides the legal framework under which the Commission operates. The Act defines the composition, powers and functions of the Commission, including:

- Large-scale assessments of student learning outcomes;
- Certification of results and issuance of result gazettes;
- Financial and administrative autonomy of the Commission;
